GAME SETUP

Create an epic battle

Before setting up your game, make sure you’re familiar with the Rules and review the Unit for details on each model. It’s a good idea to have the Stat Sheets and Glossary handy during your first battle. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’re ready to set up your game!

Squad Size & Balance
-
Flexible Army Size: Easy Wargame can be played with any number of units. Keep in mind that larger squads will result in longer games.
-
Fair Play: Always ensure both players have the same number of models for a fair and balanced match.
-
Unit Strength Consideration: Each player can choose the units they prefer, but some units are stronger than others. For example, it’s recommended that each player fields an equal number of Commanders since they tend to be more powerful. Conversely, if you include NPCs, a slight imbalance in unit count may be acceptable—but only if both players agree that the squads are balanced.
Example Squad Sizes:
-
5 vs 5
-
10 vs 10
-
5 vs 10
-
3 vs 3 vs 3 vs 3
For all squad sizes, the playing field is roughly the size of an average kitchen table. Below, you’ll find detailed explanations of these example games, along with suggested setups for each squad size.

5 VS 5

In a 5 vs 5 match, each player brings a squad of 5 units, consisting of miniature models of your choice. One unit make a big difference in this setup, so make sure to have an equal amount of Commanders if you decide to bring any.

10 VS 10

In a 10 vs 10 match, each player brings a squad of 10 units, consisting of miniature models of your choice. These games tend to be longer than a 5 vs 5 game, and gave players the opportunity to bring more variety in their squads.

5 VS 10

In a 5 vs 10 match, one player fights with 5 units of their choice, while their opponents fight with 10 NPCs. For a balanced match, Commanders are excluded from 5 vs 10 matches. This game mode can be played with 2 players, or solo if one players controls both squads. If you're an expert player, try increasing the number of NPCs from 10 to 15.
